Origami Hearts ( Valentines Day DIY #1 )

Hello lovely :)

It's 13 days until valentines day ! Some people don't like valentines day because they feel like it's all depressing when you're not in a relationship but I simply disagree. Partly because of the reasons expressed in Connor Manning's recent video which you can find here . But mostly because their are a lot of extremely nice chocolates around at this time of year and I'm not one to deprive myself a little pressie in the form of Thorntons ;) So for the next four posts I'm going to put up valentines day DIY's :) So In today's post I thought I'd show you how to make an origami heart love letter which  I've found is a really cute substitute for a valentines day card and is a lot cheaper <3

Origami Heart Love Letter <3

What you need :

All you you need is an A4 piece of paper and a pen to write your letter.... see what I mean about it being cheaper than a £5 card from Clinton's ;)

1) Take your A4 sheet and write whatever you want to say to your valentine/friend/loved family pet/anyone who's not having a great day . Now now fold your top right corner across to meet the the edge of the piece of paper and crease along the line with the edge of your nail before unfolding it :)

2) Repeat step 1 but this time fold from the top left corner :)

3) Take the two triangles on the left and right side of the paper and pull them together so that they meet each other in the middle .

4) Pinch the bottom of the fold and then press down from the top of the side of the fold and it should form a triangle ( Don't worry if this takes a few attempts I promise that you'll get it in the end )

5) Take the top layer of each of the sides of the triangle and fold them in to meet to top corner of the triangle <3

6) Fold both of the sides of the paper into the middle so they meet each other.

7) Turn the paper over so that the side without folds on is facing you :)

8) Fold the Bottom of the paper up to meet the line where the triangle shape begins

9) Fold the top layer of the triangle down to form a kind of envelope shape .

10) Fold the bottom corners into meet the centre line and then tuck them into the slots of the upside down folded triangle shape :)

11)  Fold each of the top corners in to make a triangle and tuck them into the folds across the heart and voila ! All ready to give to whoever you like :)

I hope you enjoyed this post :) Keeping with the valentines day theme, leave your favourite pick up line in the comments !

Check back on Thursday for another valentines day DIY that's super yummy :)

Origami Bird Cage DIY :)

Heyy!

I've had a cold over the last week so I've been feeling pretty rubbishy but all better now :) Anyways I've been meaning to make this DIY but haven't had the time or the patience, but snuggled up in bed watching big bang theory on repeat I thought I might as well :) Pretty little things always make me feel better... well that and chocolate ice cream but don't worry, I had plenty of that as well ;) So here's my DIY Origami Bird Cage :)

DIY Origami Bird Cage !

What You'll Need :

  • 1 old book that you would otherwise bin or if you don't ave any you don't need any more just pick one up from a charity shop. It should be roughly 250 pages .
  • 1 Pencil
  • Scissors
  • 1 Pen ( I used a silver paint pen to make it shiny but what colour pen you want is up to you )
Step one : Pull the cover off your book and then tear off two pages and put them aside because you'll need them later ! And then break the spine of the book so that you can pull the front page                    round to touch the back , this will make things easier later :)

Step two : Take the top corner of the first page and fold this corner in to meet the spine of the book .

Step three : Fold the side opposite to the spine into meet the spine and press down along the fold to help it hold its place .

Step four : Turn this page over and repeat step two and three on the next page and the next ... and the next ( This takes a while so I did it whilst watching a film )

Step five : If you carry on with steps two, three and four until you finish the book then when you get to the end it should stay in place with a lil bit of fiddling because you're folding it in on itself :)

Step six : Put your origami birdcage aside for now and take the two pages you tore out earlier and using your pencil draw out any designs you want to stick onto your birdcage, in a different one I used an outline of a bird template ( I'm sure you'll find loads if you type it in Google images ) I did the word 'Believe' and two of those really simplistic 'w' shaped bird things because my drawing abilities are very similar to that of a five year olds aha :) Then go over your outline in a pen and cut them out carefully :)

Step 7 : Finally just stick them on to your birdcage with either double sided take or glue :) If you wanted to add a little sparkle then you could put glue along the top folds in the birdcage and sprinkle glitter over it, I'm definitely doing that next time !

And that's it ! :) Really easy, pretty and a great way to prove your patience .. or lack of it in my case ;)

If you make it then let me know how it goes in the comments or if you want more DIY's :) Check back throughout the week for the weekly top ten pins post but until then have a great week !

Stay Strong <3 Stay Smiley :)

Sending lots of hugs your way !

#100happydays: day 17 ( Let's talk dragons )

Good evening :)

Oh dear me, I'm very tired this is the second post I've written tonight as I didn't post yesterday so I decided to write two short one's today for fear of letting my not existent readers down haha ( If you actually do exist that's fantastic, thank you so much for reading my waffling each day .. It would shock me that an actual human being would aha but if you do I'm eternally grateful and you are an excellent human being ;) ) If you check out my #100happydays: day 16 then you will see the whole short blog thing ... well it didn't really work out but I just love chatting about things when I get passionate ... especially as I was getting passionate about passions the need to waffle for 1157 words was just to great ;) So I'm going to try again and keep this one actually short because it's late at night , I have school tomorrow and I've been busy all week so am shattered... and it's only Tuesday haha :) I'm sure some of you can relate .

So now on to actual today's #100happydays :) Firstly I'd just like to quickly mention that as my #100happydays are usually positivity blogs I'm going to start giving their blog titles in bracket's next to the usual 100happydays stuff :) I hope you don't mind these becoming my positivity part of the blog because as you can see from my late posting times; I do a lot of stuff after school so don't get to write till late however I am planning other blog posts not revolving around this but still happy stuff because who want's to be negative :) Now that's done I'm actually going to go on to actual today's #100happydays photo ( sorry about the way my mind works I'm aware it's confusing, I mean I've lived in this mind all my life and it still confuses me sometime :) I actually occasionally laugh at the thoughts in my head because there that stupid ... and look at that I'm waffling again, sorry ) Today's picture is an origami dragon . It's pretty common knowledge that I am in love with Carrie Hope Fletcher. Well recently she started making origami dragons and now she has a little fleet :) Which I think is so awesome... seriously I want a dragon fleet :D Carrie then answered all my dreams in one video where she teaches you step by step to make origami dragons :) You can find that here . I then read a blog post that I will link to that here :) This girl is also a hopeful ( one of Carrie's subscribers kind of but there's a lot more to it than that though , I might do a blog at some point about what it means to be hopeful  ) She went to Paris and made an origami dragon and left one in each restaurant she ate in :)  How awesome is that ?!? :D This has inspired me to learn how to make origami dragons and do the same . I just think it's a lovely little random act of kindness which is definitely worth doing :)

Additionally I found another fantastic use for origami dragons that yet another hopeful came up with in the hopeful forum :) You write something that's worrying, bothering or scaring you on the side of your origami paper that will not be showing and then turn this paper into a dragon . The idea is you can relax now knowing that this furious dragon is guarding your problems so they can't escape and get to you :) I think this is a really cute and nice idea especially on those nights when you can't sleep because your stressed so try it out and let me know how it goes :)

So the quote for today is about how your problem's can be controlled by you even if you can't completely solve them . React with positivity and optimism and your half way there  :)

“It's not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.”

So once again this post didn't really end up short and sweet but still I hope it wasn't t long and boring :)
Stay Strong <3 Stay Smiley :)
Have a nice day and I hope you have lots of fun with origami dragons
